Description

For many UK universities being international is increasingly considered a key part of their strategy for survival and success, for the following reasons:

  • student recruitment: intensified competition for domestic students means that developing the ability to reach and serve prospective students in other countries has become more important

  • student experience: a growing number of students look for international exposure and experience

  • research: international collaboration is increasingly a part of cutting edge development

  • staff: the competition for the best international staff is an international one, and academic superstars and more choice about where and how they work than ever before

But - what does "being international" mean and how can you ensure it is an effective part of your strategy? With many in the sector finding international activities bring with them more challenges than anticipated and less success than hoped is there a there a model - branch campuses, overseas joint ventures, partnerships or just international-mindedness - that will most guarantee success? Furthermore, if a UK university is to decide against going international will this impact their future likelihood of survival?

In this session a group of panel sector experts will share their thoughts, with the opportunity for all who attend to participate in questions and wider debate.

This event will be followed by a drinks reception.
